The Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society is one of the oldest labor contract Societies in India. During the last 8 decades of its existence, it has developed a repute of its own in completing the projects undertaken by it within the time and cost limits.
 

ULCCS Ltd., though a society of over 2000 marginal laborers, have undertaken high value contracts in the past using most modern technologies in their sphere of activities. The Society has an asset base of 120 crores and the business volume is continuously increasing at 30-35% per annum.
 

The Society is mainly focusing on construction of roads, buildings, bridges and flyovers in Kerala. The major clients of the Society include National Highway Department for Highway projects, Public Works Department of Govt. of Kerala for State Road Development, KSUDP for Asian Development Bank Funded Project, Ministry of Panchayat Raj (DRDA) for rural roads under PMGSY Scheme and Local Self Governments for building various rural infrastructures.
 

The Society has good technical competence and has most modern technology for road and civil construction available with them. ULCCS Ltd., has consultancy support from leading technical and management consultant organizations to provide high quality work and has adequate manpower capable of operating most modern technological devices. ULCCS Ltd is continuously being credited for implementing several new techniques in road construction for first time in Kerala.
 

The Society has completed over 3700 major projects and at will be concurrently involved in the implementation of over 100 projects at any point of time.
 

The annual contract volume of the Work is around Rs 142 Crores during 2008-09 and is growing at rate of 20-35% per annum in the recent years.
 

The Society provides employment to over 2000 laborers throughout the year. Direct participation in the projects of the Society is a necessary condition for membership.
 

Recognizing the good work done by the Society, UNDP is currently considering the Developmental Plan of the Society, for granting financial assistance.
 

ULCCS was certified as an ISO 9001:2000 organization since 2006. Recently this quality certification has been upgraded to ISO 9001:2008. It is this quest for better technologies, quality and process driven operations that make ULCCS a Cooperative Society with a difference.
