There are many private and public schools and colleges of repute which have groomed some of the nation’s well known names. The demand for quality education and activity based learning, have brought in schools like Eurokids, Sadbhavana International and iDiscovery schools to Kozhikode.
Professional Colleges and Polytechnics
There are twenty four engineering colleges, six MCA centres and thirteen polytechnics situated in and around Malabar which bring out more than four thousand qualified IT professionals every year. If one takes into account the engineers from non-IT streams, who can be trained in IT, this figure goes much higher and far more attractive.
Institutes of higher learning like NIT-C and IIM-K are the pride of Kozhikode. Kozhikode Medical College, Government Homeopathic Medical College, Government Law College, Kozhikode University and other old and renowned colleges offering post graduate and undergraduate programmes are also go along. Kerala School of Mathematics, the second institute in India dedicated to research in mathematics is located in Kozhikode.
Finishing Schools
To groom the IT professionals and to make them employable, a number of finishing schools have been set-up in Kozhikode. Of these, the NIT-C finishing school has been set up by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development and supported by NASSCOM.
